What is engagement rate on linkedin?
Definition: Engagement rate on LinkedIn is the percentage of people who saw a post and interacted with it (likes, comments, shares, saves, or clicks). It is calculated by dividing total interactions by impressions and multiplying by 100. A healthy engagement rate on LinkedIn sits between 3% and 8%.
Not every interaction carries the same weight in the algorithm. Comments are worth roughly 8 times more than likes, saves (bookmarks) are worth about 5 times more, and shares weigh twice as much as comments. The comments-to-likes ratio is a more reliable quality indicator than the raw engagement rate.
To measure your engagement rate correctly on LinkedIn, you need to distinguish between unique impressions (unique users who saw the post) and total impressions (the number of times it appeared in feeds). The standard calculation uses unique impressions. A profile with 10,000 followers that produces a post with 500 interactions and 12,000 impressions has an engagement rate of 4.17%.
