What is linkedin headline?
Definition: The headline is the line under your name on your profile, with room for up to 220 characters. It is the most-read field on LinkedIn: it follows your name into every comment you leave, every search result and every connection request.
By default LinkedIn fills it with your job title and company, and most people leave it there. The problem with that automatic version is that it describes where you work, not what you do for whoever is reading.
A headline that works answers two things in one line: who you help and with what. "Marketing Director at Acme" says nothing to someone who does not know Acme; "I help B2B SaaS win clients on LinkedIn" does.
Two practical notes. The headline carries weight in LinkedIn's internal search, so the words you use there affect whether people find you. And it truncates on mobile well before 220 characters, so what matters has to come first.
